In 1949, there was only one major U.S. advertising company – DDB Needham. A few years later, the number of major agencies and advertising products grew rapidly, fueled by a technology development boom. In 1952, radio program sponsorships were $400,000, and by 1965 they were $4,000,000.

What is a marketing industry? This question is a loaded one, as many marketers would like to think of themselves as practitioners rather than practitioners, and there is a whole lot of debate about what that means.

For many marketers, the term marketing is defined by the operational success of the marketplace – getting people to buy the stuff you make, as well as getting them to use the things you make.

This research helps marketers to know the best way to pursue the consumer’s needs, based on the theories and beliefs of that target audience.
